Summer is here, and vacation season is in full swing. While fun, planning a vacation can be stressful. We’ve put together some tips for helping you get into vacation mode and enjoy a more memorable experience as you soak up the sun this summer.
- More Time, Less Places
Whether seeking adventure or relaxation – or both, try not to over-schedule by hopping destinations. Pick one or two locations and spend a few days in each to soak up new scenery and truly experience something different. Spending all your time bouncing from location to location is stressful and doesn’t give you the freedom to really stop and smell the roses, or ocean air, or mountains…you get the idea.
- Plan Together
Vacation should be fun for all involved. In the initial planning, have a meeting with your family or group (that includes the kiddos!) and determine a few basics. Is the vacation for relaxation or thrill-seeking adventure? Tropics or mountains? Road trip or flying? Once the destination is selected, what are the top two or three wish-list items for each traveler? This gives everyone a more meaningful travel experience.
- Chat up the Locals
No one knows a place like the people who call it home. Strike up conversation with locals in restaurants, coffee shops, etc. to discover insider knowledge you won’t find in most travels guides. Ask about the prime scenic stops in the area, the best local eateries, what the area is most famous for, and where they would take their out-of-town guests. Not only will you find hidden gems, you’ll likely meet some nice people along the way!
- Rise and Shine
Sleeping in may be a luxury, but so is catching a sunrise in a new place. It’s a great way to get a fresh perspective and enjoy a peaceful moment before you start your day. Anywhere you travel, you should make a point to catch a sunrise on at least one day of your stay.
- Hold the Phone
So, we’re all guilty of being glued to our phones, but you can look at your phone at home! Yes, take pictures and share, but take some time to stop and enjoy real moments. Take in the scenery for real, not through a lens. Enjoy face-to-face conversations. Disconnect to connect with what is truly important.
All of us here at Certified Radon, wish you and your family safe travels!
