An agent is there to guide your through the process and take care of the many details involved in marketing and finding properties, negotiations, and transactions. Whether you’re buying, selling, or both, finding the right agent for you is an important first step. Here are some quick tips to help you along the way:

Check to ensure your potential agent is properly licensed in your state. While you’re at it, run an online search to see if there have been any complaints or disciplinary actions against the agent. This information is typically available online or through your state’s real estate regulatory body.

Real estate agents have specialties. Some specialize in working with buyers, others with sellers – and some both!
